The Ma'anshan Yangtze River Rail-Road Bridge of the Chao Lake-Ma'anshan Railway, officially closed on April 17, 2025, laying a solid foundation for the early opening. Mr. Liu Chengzhou, deputy general manager of OVM, led the team to attend the closing-in ceremony and celebrated this historic moment.

As a key participant in the project, OVM supply the "Ultra-High Strength, High Anti-Fatigue and Durable Parallel Steel Wire Cable System" for this project.

This technology has achieved three major breakthroughs:

  • Developed ultra-high strength (2,100 MPa, 7mm in diameter), high anti-fatigue (fatigue stress amplitude of 510 MPa) steel wires with zinc-aluminum-magnesium alloy coating.
  • Developed layered multi-level high anti-fatigue anchoring technology and proposed a new bending fatigue test method. Successfully developed an ultra-high strength (2,100 MPa), high stress amplitude (280 MPa) parallel steel wire cable system for the first time.
  • Developed new technologies to enhance cable durability, including a diverse alloy co-infiltration corrosion protection dual flexible waterproof sealing structure for anchorage and intelligent monitoring technology.

To meet the precision requirements for cable length, OVM designed a high-precision manufacturing process. This included developing a phased array full-focus non-destructive testing technology for cable anchorages, proposing a new scheme for wire protection during cable manufacturing, and creating a set of process control technologies for precise cable length control for ultra-long cables.

During the construction phase, OVM's innovative processes set new industry benchmarks.

As a key control project of the Chaoma Intercity Railway, the Chaoma Rail-Road Yangtze River Bridge in Ma'anshan has a six-lane urban expressway on the upper layer and four railway lines on the lower layer. The main navigation bridge on the left branch of the Yangtze River is designed as a three-pylon steel truss girder cable-stayed bridge with a main span of (2×1,120) meters. The Chaoma Intercity Railway is an important part of the national "Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal" high-speed rail network along the Yangtze River corridor. It is expected to open in September 2026, shortening the travel time from Hefei to Ma'anshan to 45 minutes.
